Perhaps I'm spoiled but... I'm a 20 year RN and have worked for a large health system for most of that time. This year I let my BLS certification expire and needed to rush to get a new card. Generally speaking I take this class every two years within the health system that I work at or with the Red Cross and it is extremely in depth and structured. This class was unorganized, perhaps 10 minutes of hands on, very outdated by AHA standards, and we were given all the answers to the written exam just prior to taking the test. The instructor was a nice person but spent most of the class talking about herself and her subjective opinions. I feel like I know more about her than anything that pertained to CPR. I was only there to get a card so I would not have to miss work but there were more than a few students that were taking CPR/ BLS for the first time, and I don't believe they learned enough in that class to feel confident and provide quality CPR in an emergency. I'm sure this was not a good example of the standards that your organization generally provides and expects of its instructors. Someone should audit this instructor and how she conducts the class. I'm sorry that I felt the need and had to write this review.
