“I would have preferred elastic at the bottom. There are very few pants that I can purchase that are not too long. Neither of the lengths that I purchased were short enough. Elastic helps with that problem.”
“So beyond impressed by insect shield products! I recently went to Uganda to work with Chimpanzees then went Gorilla Trekking in the wild. I tease that I have fairy blood because I ALWAYS am the person to get bug bites when no one else does. I wore Insect Shield pants, long sleeve top and the hiking socks and came home with NO BITES!!!! When i was gorilla trekking my entire group was attacked by safari ants while we were viewing the gorillas and i was the only one who didn't have any come near me. “I love Insect Shield clothing. I recently ordered 3 items I bought previously, but this time in different colors. This was, however, the first time that I ordered pants. I am 5’10” tall, and thin, and have trouble finding pants long enough, and often talls are too long. These came to the top of my shoes. Not as long as I would have liked, but just doable. I usually buy size medium in everything from this company, but I ordered a large in these black tech pants, after reading reviews and taking my measurements. They are a bit baggie, but the waist can tie tighter. I am thinking the medium would have been a better fit for me, however, I can easily wear these over leggings on a cooler day. Because the hem diameter is narrower, they don't look excessively baggy, so I decided to keep them.
I wore them today over my padded bike shorts, for bug and sun protection on my bike ride. They never got stuck in the chain. No one could tell that bike shorts were underneath. I imagine I could also wear them over my skinny jeans, too, for tick protection on a cool day. If you like a looser casual sweat pant look, these would work, however they are not heavy or very warm. They are a light silky knit fabric, but not too light. Comfortable. Having them looser around the legs allows air flow, too. I really wanted Insect Shield pants, rather than my own jeans sprayed, because my last hike I found a tick on the inside of my jeans hiding under the pocket lining! These pants are treated inside and out, I am assuming, so I didn’t want to have that problem again.
The reason I only gave them 4 stars is because the fabric is a bit shiny, sometimes feels like they static cling to my legs a bit, and they could be a little longer. They are not really classy pants, either, but serve the purpose of tick protection, at half the price of the next expensive style of women's pants. I would not deduct stars for size, because I ordered wrong. In the future I may order the gray in medium to wear tighter without leggings, on warmer days.”
“I bought these to replace some insect shield pants that are near the end of their life. I know that they protect well. I wish these were a little roomier in the hips and came in long lengths. I’m tall and having suffered with Lyme, I don’t want my ankles exposed! I’ve looked far and wide for pants to protect myself and there aren’t many out there. I just wish that they fit me a little better.”
