“I can't knock the peerless composition by master perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, but time has not been kind to Eau Sauvage's performance. For a fragrance that never sees a discount or makes its way to the grey market, longevity is unacceptable. Somehow, the perfumers at Rochas have been able to eclipse this formulation with their release of Roudnitska's Moustache Original 1949. At less than half the price, and at lease twice the performance, I'd recommend Moustache 1949 over this any day of the week. Here's hoping Dior can figure this one out sooner than later, because Eau Sauvage is a more complex and compelling version of its Rochas predecessor.”
