“No clue if this smells like Aventus or not, this has a really good scent, initially it’s a very citrus-y smell which I dislike but it very quickly dries down to an earthy, clay, soil type smell. This has tremendous sillage and is a very powerful scent, I would not wear this in a crowded office or to an interview (frankly wouldn’t wear any scent to an interview), you will go nose deaf but anything more than two sprays of this stuff and you’re dipping into high schooler/club dude bro bathing in Drakker Noir territory. Performance is outstanding, easily lasts 10+ hours, I would be cautious about wearing this with coats or suits if you use other scents unless you can let them air out. I very frequently pick this scent off my clothes going into the washing machine out of the hamper a week after wearing. Fwiw mine has the black cap, if that’s the weaker one I’m glad, cannot a more powerful version of this being tolerable.”
“First understand this is a $30-$40 cologne designed to imitate Creed Aventus, which is a $300 premium brand. It does a nice job getting you into that neighborhood at 1/10 of the price, but you need to know 2 things so you know what you’re getting into. 1. The initial spray may be a bit jolting to some. It’s a rather synthetic lemon smell vs. pineapple. (Creed is intended to be a sweet pineapple, mixed with spicy bergamot and black currant and doesn’t have the harsh opening). If you live with people that are sensitive to scents, be discreet and distanced when you apply. Otherwise, your significant other may think you just dusted with lemon-fresh pledge, and now you’re in double trouble (assuming you didn’t dust!) Best to apply this early as possible before an event and not when you are running out the door. This review is for the Eau de Toilette (EDT) version. I understand they have a parfum version that some reviews say is smoother on the initial spray, so look into that if interested, noting you’ll pay more for it. 2. The “dry-down” is the good part. After a while, this settles in nicely. You are now entering Creed zone. But warning, this cologne is designed to express itself in its sillage, which is the scent in the air that surrounds you when close to people. It smells differently when you try and smell it directly on your skin. This is also why some think it may not have the expected performance (projection) and may be hard to smell on your skin. Pro tip is to apply this to a male friend or your Dad, son, brother, etc. and wait a half hour and smell it on them when they walk by. Then you’ll truly know how people will experience it on you. You can then decide if this has the performance you're looking for.”
