“Arc En Ciel (St. Lucia) - A Major Disappointment Arc En Ciel is now 35-plus years old and the pictures shown on the web site are at least that old. The owners have made no investments to upgrade the property. Toilets are 35-plus years old, plumbing and water supply is an issue. The sofas in the rooms are worn, sagging and badly stained from decades of use. In one bedroom, the “exhaust fan” is a moldy hole in the ceiling allowing bugs, including large spiders, to enter the room. The uplighting of the walkways and gardens doesn't work and over half of the lanterns and lights are not working or have burnt out light bulbs. The outdoor wooden chaise lounges are old, worn and peeling. The kitchen was certainly not what one would expect in a high-end villa. It is old, worn and in dire need of a major makeover. Sandfleas all over the kitchen counters and birds were always, constantly on the countertops in the kitchen – which is a sanitary issue and health hazard. Arc En Ciel is on a very steep hill, which makes walking down to the beach an issue as the road can be slippery. Getting around is difficult. Visitors are not allowed to pass through the Viceroy Sugar Beach resort, so you'll need to drive around on fairly dangerous roads to reach town (Soufriere) and sites. The major road/highway is undergoing a 6-month construction project, so we were forced to use back roads, which were a major challenge (about 12-ft wide, 2-way roads with no signs, major deep potholes and steep switchbacks). The house manager has permission to enter the Viceroy Resort and drove us when requested, which was greatly appreciated, but then we were dependent on his availability. We enjoyed and views, but the villa itself was absolutely not worth the price.”

“2 stars because it’s beauty, otherwise it would be 1 star. Rats on the property. When asked, we’re told they’re opossums. Started just down in the lower level, as the week went on, they would show up in the dining room upstarts. The primary bath suite, the bathroom needs an update, especially the shower. Pool is missing tile in several places. Toilets handle will stick. Ants all over the main pool area. Staff is very friendly and when we would bring things to their attention they would address and get solutions to fix (TVs not working, HVAC issues, toilets, waterfall). Towels needs to be upgraded. Beautiful views and weather was great but too many hiccups to make us come back.”

“The house and staff are actually even better than can be presented online. If you would like to go and stay in a place that has Avatar like beauty with a great team of people there, this is it!!! Would return again in a heartbeat.”

“The landscape surrounding Arc En Ciel is some of the most stunning natural beauty I have ever seen. The way the house is sited you are lifted directly over the water, we could hear waves crashing while we did yoga on the terrace. You have full view of the petite Piton and the water amidst lush vegetation, it is simply spectacular. The chef here is very capable, our last night she prepared individually plated beautiful and succulent Caribbean lobsters for 10 people. The outside vendors that we were connected to were all great we had a driver, a yoga instructor, a boat ride, and massages, all were very good. The rooms are charming and spacious and fit our group of 10 very well. Some rooms (those upstairs) are definitely more luxe than others, but who really cares when you are in paradise. As others have noted there is a super steep 5-10 minute walk down to the beach, but what a beach it is!! Jaw-droppingly gorgeous.”

“What can I say about Arc En Ciel. It felt like a home if you lived in a paradise. I have never had such a flawless vacation experience. Diane, Raymond, Sherleen, “Poopuss “ and Marcia took such great care of us. Words cannot accurately describe how all 6 of us felt about this vacation. We have and had no complaints. We are already planning our return.”

“Everything about Arc en Ciel was beautiful, the setting the villa the attentive staff and the food. We had a fantastic relaxing family holiday. A few points to note, the property is set on a very steep hill which made venturing out to the beach quite hard work - not suitable for people with limited mobility. The towels were not great - would have expected nice large fluffy ones in a property of this calibre (including the pool towels). The plumbing was also problematic. I think the sanitaryware was all a little dated - could do with an upgrade.”
