“The view is truly stunning, priceless, and the main reason to stay here. You can easily lose track of time staring out at the sea for hours. The beach is terrific, with excellent sand and clear, gentle water. It a short walk through the backyard and down a dune. The property is as pictured, although it shows more wear and tear than the photos suggest. Housekeeping did a great job during our stay. Unfortunately, a significant ant and insect problem materially impacted our stay and was very difficult to overlook. It was nearly impossible to keep insects out of the kitchen. We also found them in the bedroom wing. At one point, ants got into a vacuum-sealed package of Sicilian olives that we had purchased to bring home. We are still dealing with insect bites 10 days after our stay. The house likely needs comprehensive fumigation and a much stronger ongoing pest-control program; otherwise, it is difficult to enjoy the indoor-outdoor living that should be one of the property’s greatest strengths. We noted this to the property manager upon departure, but I am not sure how it can be controlled. The home is also relatively lightly equipped compared with other houses we have rented. There was little pool or beach gear (e.g. one beach chair for the entire property), so we went to the store to purchase beach chairs and pool floats. It was also light on towels and other basic supplies typically found at this price point. The furniture is functional, both indoors and out, but the home would benefit from more comfortable places to settle in, stretch out, and spend time enjoying the views. The location, views, and beach are exceptional. With a serious improvement in pest control, this would have been a wonderful experience.”

We are very sorry to hear about the insect issues you experienced during your stay. We have spoken with the property manager, who deeply regrets the inconvenience this caused and wishes they had been made aware of the extent of the issue during your stay. With countryside and coastal properties, insects can unfortunately be an occasional challenge, particularly given the natural surroundings and the indoor-outdoor nature of the home. That said, this does not diminish the impact it had on your experience. Had the property manager been notified during the stay, they would have been very happy to arrange additional spraying and pest-control measures immediately. We understand that prompt intervention can often make a significant difference. We appreciate that you mentioned the issue to the property manager upon departure and have shared your comments with them so that additional attention can be given to pest control and preventative measures going forward. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the beach and pool equipment, towels, supplies, and furnishings. These are helpful observations, and we will discuss them with the property manager as part of our ongoing review of the home. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback.
