Most stews can take hours to make, but with S&B's umami-rich hayashi stew mix, you can make great-tasting stew in next to no time. Seasoned with a variety of hearty vegetables (including onion, tomato, and carrot), this completely vegetarian sauce mix comes in concentrated 'blocks', similar to Japanese curry roux, that melt into stew pots and thicken to make a glossy hayashi sauce. We recommend you enjoy your prepared hayashi stew with rice or noodles.Preparation• Slice 350g onions and 220g meat of your choice (beef or pork would be particularly tasty)• Add 1tbsp cooking oil to a large saucepan. Add onions and meat, cooking until lightly browned.• Add 400ml water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat, cover, and cook over a medium heat for approx. 20 minutes.• Remove from heat. Divide 4 blocks of curry roux (half a box) into 4 and add to saucepan. Stir through until melted and return the pot to the heat.
