“Overall quality was good. The bending, welding and construction of the UCA is good. It seems like a good quality paint and painting process. Fits well and easy to install.
Two Items I would change:
- The Grade 5 bolts holding in the ball joint were cheap and stretched. They are to be torqued to 20ft-lbs and I had a small torque wrench on them and they just stretched and broke. I replaced all of them with grade 8 bolts. For the minimal cost difference, I would upgrade these with grade 8 bolts (8 bolts were $3.00 CAD)
- the boot on the ball joint does not seal around the whole ball joint. On the inner side, there is a gap between the boot and the bottom of the UCA. This makes a small spot where the grease can get out and dirt could get in. Just need to make sure to keep the grease in the joint and it should be ok.
For the cost of these, I would buy them again and would recommend them to anyone looking for a good quality set of UCA for a daily driver.”
“Craftsmanship of product was impressive and appears to be very well made. It was well packaged and shipped promptly. Instructions were clear and concise. A fair amount of difficulty encountered in removing the stock UCA’s and installing the JBA units, but that being from the location of the shear bolt on my 07 Tacoma and not from the products design itself, as its fit was perfect!. Even more impressive than the product, is how Marlin seems genuinely concerned about his customers satisfaction and even makes himself accessible to answer questions or give advice about his product, which in my opinion is something very rare in today’s world. Although I’ve literally just installed the UCA’s and have yet to put any real mileage on them, based alone on Marlin’s apparently genuine concern for his customers satisfaction, I feel confident that the product will perform as advertised. Thank you Marlin for what appears to be an excellent product and also for sharing your faith.”
