“What the shake does well...
It can stave off hunger for 4 hours easy, doesn't cause diarrhea, you don't feel tired or weak.
What the shake does poorly...
Doesn't seem to matter what you do, its like drinking sand water. Taste is horrible, even if you add Monk Fruit to sweetener, and Vanilla extract that taste is tolerable but still bad. It's very watery, even if you use almond milk it doesn't thicken any so its not like a shake at all.
I gave it a 3 because it does everything you want it to better than most others...except taste good and have a good consistency”
Hi Rachel,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to let us know how you feel about our Plenny Shake Active Vanilla. I submitted your question to our cooks and they came back with this thorough answer:
"We use seed oils because they are a great source of poly and mono-unsaturated fatty acids which are essential for maintaining healthy brain function, building and repairing cells, and supporting immune system function. Seed oils are also rich in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage.
We use sunflower seed oil in all our meals except the Plenny Drinks and Plenny Bars which have rapeseed oil and the Plenny Pot Satay Noodles which has coconut oil. High-linoleic sunflower oil has a neutral taste and is stable against oxidation, making it a great choice. It's also rich in healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that can help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
The main concern lies in the fact that sunflower seed oil is high in omega 6 and the misinterpretation of some research papers has led to state that omega 6 causes inflammation and therefore it has to be avoided. This is incorrect. Omega 6 is an essential fatty acid, meaning that the body requires it for normal function. Despite some misconceptions about omega-6s triggering inflammation, clinical trials consistently demonstrate that omega-6 fatty acids do not contribute to inflammation. Well-founded observational data indicate that reducing saturated fat and incorporating a combination of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats can modestly lower the incidence of coronary heart disease, with polyunsaturated fats showing the strongest benefits. The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids is not a reliable indicator as both types are essential and contribute to reducing the risk of heart disease. A recent analysis revealed that substituting butter and margarine with canola oil, corn oil, or olive oil was associated with decreased overall mortality and improved cardiometabolic outcomes.
Another concern arises about the processing methods used. Certain extraction techniques involve the application of heat and solvents like hexane, which can lead to concerns regarding the presence of chemical residues and potential changes in the oil's stability and composition. However, there is no need to worry! Manufacturers strictly adhere to rigorous quality standards and regulations to ensure the safety and purity of their products."
I hope this clarifies the situation for you and maybe will be enough to keep you as a customer (:
