“A friend of mine recommended Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake to me and I was curious to see if they were any good.
I ordered the starter pack, one of each flavour of the standard Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake shakes and I have now tried every flavour. I think my favourites are the fruity ones, followed by vanilla and lastly chocolate, which I didn't care for much. The tastes are quite bland, but I think that's good, as it means you don't get sick of it. I would say that it has an after-texture that's a little grainy/minerally, but it's not so bad that I don't want to have the shakes. The shakes are as thick as you want to make them, and they do contain fibre stuff, but I eat porridge and things like that, so it doesn't bother me, I quite like it. I put mine in the fridge the night before for breakfast and then put the lunch one in the fridge when I get into work into the morning. I find this improves the texture, gives it a chance to absorb the water and thicken up a bit. Make sure to give it a very thorough shake before you drink, as it tends to settle. My friend made the excellent recommendation of adding coffee to the banana one, and coffee and banana smoothies in general are great if you've never tried one.
I've been using the shakes to kind of get a handle on my calorie intake and have them for breakfast and lunch. Convenience wise, you can't beat it, I definitely save a lot of time in the mornings for breakfast and lunch preparation. Also helps cost wise too. Normally I would try and make sandwiches or have leftovers for lunch, as buying lunch every day gets expensive; one meal equivalent shake is around less than £2 I think.
I was skeptical as to whether they would keep me full the same as a meal, and so far I would say they do. I fill them up with around 600ml of water which helps to make me fuller and also helps me drink enough, as in the day I tend not to drink as much as I should.
To the icky stuff... At first they made me feel a little bloated and I would get a bit of trapped wind too, which could make me feel a little uncomfortable, but it's settling down now, maybe my system needed to get used to them. Toilet wise, maybe I go a little more, but that's no bad thing.
I'm going to try the vegan ones next as I'm trying to reduce my dairy intake a little, and I'm gonna try the coffee ones too once they get some more in.”
“The Good:
I love Chocolate & Strawberry. They taste great! I'll order those again/
Banana is still pretty good, I'll order a bit of that, too.
The Neutral:
I don't like Mango, but if you like the "tropical" flavour, you'll probably do.
The Bad:
Vanilla. The first taste was pleasant, but that didn't last long. I had to force myself to finish the shake!
I can't put my finger on what I don't like about it. It seems... heavy and sludgy.
All in all I might not be 100% satisfied, but I'm ordering again soon!”
“Being a bit sceptical at first I was not sure if ordering a trial package was one of my better ideas - as it turns out it absolutely was! Communities often tend to exaggerate especially on rather niché products but its quality did convince me.
The beginning was a bit shaky, as the packaging guys seemed to have forgotten to add the shaker to the shipment, but customer support was very friendly and helpful and three days later it arrived and I could begin mixing in a proper way.
At first I was experimenting a bit by trial and error trying to find the correct ratio of powder and water - as well as flavor, turns out I don't like chocolate that much, tastes a bit weird for me, but all other were fine, especially the banana one.
Just as can be around the web the taste and texture may seem a bit off for some at the start, so I didn't expect too much. I was quite surprised though, noticing that I really liked it from the beginning on and had none of the disadvantages some individuals had mentioned (like nasty flatulence). Even my girlfriend approved it as "way better a lazy food than ramen noodles".
Also, while not just saving time, money and probably being way more healthy then what I used to eat before it also makes those moments when you do prepare and eat a splendid lasagna more enjoyable and tastier. ;)
All in all I am very pleased by the quality of and the product itself, as well es the customer support. Actually I did just now order my next supply package, this time adding a few bags of the vegan version and looking forward trying those too.”
“My hart was broken and there was Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake the day after. Coincidence, I couldn't eat so I drunk. It gave me energy it gave back the joy in my live.”
“I have always been told, that powder food is not real food and will never be a real substitute.
I ordered Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake because "why not". I was very curious. I got myself the 15 meal order. The shipping was good, I guess. I mean I live in Denmark and it was sent from Holland/Netherlands. Took around 10 days, which felt like forever, since I was excited for it. I did miss an email from the Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake team when they shipped/send my order. At least some sort of notification.
The product it self. I like it! Got the strawberry flavor. Taste like oatmeal with strawberries. You will miss the feeling of solid food in your stomach, but you can always nip on some fruit or nuts. Its a personal thing of how you feel about it.
I started replacing lunch, then lunch and breakfest. Dinner gets replaced now and then, depending on my daily schedule.
In the end. I feel good. I like Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake. Four stars, no fifth due to the shipping, but it is a minor thing.
Just remember to keep your self hydrated. Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake is a meal not a drink.
Best wishes
Philip”
“I've substituted my dinner with a Jimmy Joy/Plenny shake shake and I have to say that I'm loving it, no need to cook just for myself nor to eat at a fastfood or a sandwich at a bar. I've had 5 bags already and I'm feeling healthy, just drink slowly, it's a full meal what you are having.
I'm giving four stars just because they delivered the package with quite a delay, but the product is awesome. For sure I'll buy more!”
