“Nice compact unit with long hoses, easy to manage. Having heavier duty connectors would be better, the hose connections seem like a weak point. They can leak a bit too. I just took it on a two week road trip to Mexico. Lots of hot water!”
“There's much I'm liking: size, set up, & free stranding.
I still need to test it altitude, but that might be later this year.
Issue I'm having is the battery. Right now in order for me to run it I got to have the charging cable attached to operate the unit. I've tried to charge the battery, it says it's full, but then I go to switch it on, I get maybe a minute or two and it dies. I'm currently out in the field on a job, so I've not the opportunity to address this, but running off a power source has been working.”
Thank you for your review, Jeffrey! Glad you like your Outback Shower and sorry to hear about the issue with the battery. Please reach out to contact@kakaduusa.com so we can look into this further and assist you with warranty if needed.
“This is an excellent self-contained & well thought out hot water heat exchange unit. I’ve used it twice and it works flawlessly so I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to take a hot shower every couple of days out in the wild. I also live & 4-wheel above 7k foot elevation and this unit performs like a champ!”
“Incredible appliance! Very easy to set up and move around given the pump and fuel are all there in a tidy package. I have portable shower units from two other manufacturers and this is far and away my favorite for most jobs. The water flow is, of course, less than units that connect to garden hose but that is very good for water conservation. Because of the convenience my Kakadu gets nearly daily use while the others just sit in storage!”
“A few weeks ago, during an unusual cold snap and snowstorm, the main water line to the house cracked and was leaking under the driveway. Because the damaged line was not actually IN the house, the homeowners insurance would not cover the repairs, or any expenses related to the damage (like alternate housing). With a family of 6 (including two toddlers), an indefinite hotel stay was not an option for us financially as we were going to have to pay a hefty amount to repair the water line. We have been camping many times as a family, so we decided to "rough it" with bottled water for drinking and treated rain barrel water for bathing and flushing toilets. I can't express enough how thankful we were to have a way to take a hot shower with the use of the Kakadu Outback Portable Hot Water Shower! It is amazingly easy to set up, simple to use, and generates hot water very quickly. It's great that we can adjust the temperature to a lower setting for bathing the toddlers. It has literally saved us a very expensive, long hotel stay and made "roughing it" not quite so rough! (Disclaimer: we did make sure to have proper ventilation along with a carbon monoxide alarm in the area where we used it). So not only is it useful for camping/hiking, but also in disaster areas/emergency situations. Definitely a 5 star product!”
“It is a great kit and I really like it. It is compact and easy to use. Works great.
The temp meter could have a lower setting. I never take it off the low setting. It works best with cold water.”
“I bought this with the intention of using it inside my RV. Now, disclaimer...it clearly states on it and in the manual DO NOT USE INDOORS. However, I live full time in my RV and it gets below freezing here so during the winter I am not hooked up to water. I turn on my roof vent fan and have absolutely no problems. Very happy with my purchase.”
