The Speedrite Fault Finder is a combined voltmeter and fence tester designed specifically to easily find problems on an electric fence. The large back-lit LCD display clearly shows the current, voltage and current direction simultaneously. The Fault Finder has the unique feature of displaying the previous current briefly so the user can compare values. The audible current indicator uses sound to direct the user to the fault. The cordless design means there is no ground probe or electrical cable needed.
Comes complete with an integrated belt clip and secure wire guide for more accurate readings. The robust impact- and water-resistant case is designed to withstand rugged outdoor handling. Housed inside the case is a replaceable 9 volt battery, which will give up to two years of trouble-free use. The low battery warning system will show the battery status on the display.

i miles of high tensile fence for both cattle and goats. Using a regular voltage tester to find a short can be very frustrating and time consuming. I have use one for years and somehow lost it so this purchase is a replacement. However, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED the unit arrived with a nearly dead battery that needed to be replaced before using.

A different brand of fence charger (energizer) was installed on a fence line and I noticed that the fence light indicator was dimly lit. How do you check the charger and fence for optimum performance? I did not want a led indicating tool that was hard to see in broad daylight. Imagine covering the tool to see the lights and get zapped on the forehead. I also did not want a probe to stick in the ground to use the tool. In drought conditions, the ground can be very hard to probe. What I found was a tool with enough features to teach you about the condition of your fence line. The Stafix Fault Finder is the tool that you will ever need. Unlike the on-line video of the Remote Stafix Fault Finder, you must press and hold the on button for use of the tool. This feature will save on batteries when not in use. The display is amazing in direct sunlight. Numbers, letters and symbol are black and bold. In the late evening, four lights (two on each side of the display) is enough before total darkness. At first use, I thought I had a defective unit. I was not familiar with the function of this tool. Information was on the tool indicating the voltage, amperage, tone with the pulse of the charger, and the number one reason of the tool is the direction of a fault. I found two faults on the fence line in a matter of walking the distance. The tool was your eyes and ears and did the work for you. If you walked the fence line with the fence charger off, you would have not found the faults because both places was arcing to ground. A friend spent hours on his fence line before he found a hidden fault. Bottom line, learn how to use the tool and understand the information the tool is giving you. You have a teaching tool in hand to completely understand your charged fence line. One note: I bought this Stafix Fault Finder because it is made in New Zealand and you need only one hand to operate it. This tool really works. I bought it and I don't even own a fence line. That fence line belongs to a family member.
