“This is 185g jar of carob powder. It is a good alternative to chocolate. It is caffeine-free.It tastes ok. I quite like it.I think that £9.50 is a little pricey for the size. Apart from the price, I am happy with it.”
“I was very excited when this KIKI Health Organic RAW Carob Powder first arrived and straight away made my first hot chocolate with it; as I had not had carob hot chocolate for a very very long time. It was delicious! The taste was heaven; though as time went on and I made more carob hot chocolate, I sensed a taste of chalkiness; and I'm still unsure as to whether it is from my plant based home made milk; or whether it is from the carob powder.I'd like to think it's my plant based milk as I recall my first carob hot chocolate with this powder was simply delicious. I'll just keep trying to perfect my home made plant based almond milk.I highly recommend this and I'll definitely buy again. I very much like that it is in a bottle format; as it's easy to spot and store.”
“This KIKI Health organic raw carob powder comes as 185 grammes in a brown glass jar with a metal, screw-on lid. The carob powder is typical of carob powder that I have bought over the last forty years or so and is finely ground and has quite a low bulk density - carob powder is also quite hydrophobic and you need to press it into a liquid or use a blender as it doesn't readily mix in on its own.Unlike cocoa, which is naturally bitter, carob has its own sugar and therefore, you don't need to add sugar to it to use it in the same way as you would use cocoa powder. For example, this carob powder makes a very good milk shake with one or two heaped teaspoons of carob in a cup of milk - I used two heaped teaspoons in a half pint mug of oat milk and it was very nice. This carob powder is organically grown and works just like any other carob powder such as using it as a one to one substitute for cocoa powder.”
“Carob is great tasting and a really good alternative for anyone who wants to avoid, or needs to avoid, the caffeine in chocolate. The downside to carob might be that carob has higher levels of naturally occuring sugar than the Theobroma cacao (the bean which gives us cocoa.cacao, powder when ground) 100% ground cacao bean, like 100% dark chocolate is pretty bitter. Most 'cocoa' powder has added sugar. You certainly would not need or want to ADD sugar to carob powder to make any kind of hot chocolate drink.A possible advantage of carob over cocoa would also be for a hot chocolate tasting drink to help sleep at bedtime, as the carob is caffeine free.Either way, its delicious. I really like it sprinkled over fresh cut grapefruit”
“To be honest I wanted this Carob powder for one thing... Hot drinks! I am lactose intolerant so I can't drink milk which is fine because this is lovely with oat milk (or soya of that's your bag). I like that it's in a glass target than a plastic bottle (for environmental reasons of course! It's a really great quality product. OK I'm hooked!”
“I was not expecting this to taste as close to cocoa as it did. Very pleasant with water and oat milk. Don't think I could call out the difference. I guess more expensive than cocoa but there are supposed health benefits.”
