“I received the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I already had an ear thermometer, so I was used to using one. However, I LOVED this one. It works so quickly, which is good with squirmy kids. The app was really easy to download and navigate. I made a profile for each of my family members (myself, my husband, my two kids). When you take the temperature, you can assign it to a member of your family. The app records the time and temperature of each reading and it tells you if it registers as a fever or not. This is really helpful when you have a sick kiddo and have to take and track their temperature. I think it would be useful when going to the doctor and keeping track that way. I would recommend this thermometer.”
“I've tried a handful of thermometers and the ear ones are so convenient. So far this one is more accurate and faster than the other models of ear thermometers I've tried. The thermometer is lightweight and easy to use with only one button. I love the auto-off feature because when I have a sick kid, the last thing I need is dead batteries in our thermometer!
I love the app and ability to keep track of multiple family members temperatures. The added ability to log and track symptoms along with temperatures is extra helpful when communicating with our pediatrician. too.
My kids have been free of illness so I haven't taken advantage of the feature, but when you log symptoms you are given age-appropriate recommendations and a staff nurse will reach out with advice/guidance. Knowing that I have an extra resource to turn to when I am worried about my child's health is so reassuring! Overall I'm very happy with this thermometer and the support from the company.

“The Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer is great! It takes temperature so quickly that my kids actually let me do it without a fight. The thermometer is easy to use, reliable, and has a battery indicator right on the screen so you don't have to guess if it needs to be changed. The app was a nice bonus. It was easy to make profiles for every family member (my kids loved choosing their profile icons). Each time you take someone's temperature, you can add symptoms. The app even gives you advice such as if you need to call the doctor or what dose of medicine is appropriate. The only downside is you have to turn location on to set up the app and transfer temperature readings from the thermometer. “I was given this ear thermometer to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. The first time I used it I was in a hurry (when AREN'T parents of small kids in a hurry?!) and I was able to unbox, download the app, sign up for an account, link the thermometer, and take my son's temperature in less than 5 minutes. It was so easy, and very cool to see the temperature on the app as well as the device. My son didn't even flinch and he normally doesn't love stuff in his ears. Gone are the days of notes on my phone or paper on my countertop recording temps, and "thinking I'll remember" when I call the doctor but forgetting. The app helps me keep everything recorded and accurate which is my favorite feature I never knew I needed but will never live without again! It also has a cool symptom checker where it helps give advice on when to call the doctor. Definitely recommending this to friends building their baby registry and also my experienced mom friends who are taking temperatures more often these days.”
“I'm a mom of 3 kids ages 5 and under, so needless to say, we are exposed to a lot of yuck. Taking temperatures has always been a struggle, especially for my 2 year old who struggles with recurring ear infections. He doesn't want anything near his ear for longer than 2 seconds and ear thermometers in the past have been bothersome for him, especially during infections.
Thanks to the Stellar Review Panel, we were able to try this Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer and its been amazing. It is insanely fast to read temperatures, even during infections and it closely matched temperatures taken on other thermometers. I found it to be a great size and easily fit in my 5 year old, 2 year old, and 5 month old's ear. I love that it doesn't require any plastic disposable cover like others we have used in the past.
I think the game changer for me was the app. It is really simple to set up and navigate (it took me about 3 minutes to set up everyone's profile) and I love that it customizes recommendations based on the age of the child and the other symptoms. Since I have an infant, that feature is my favorite because my threshold for seeking care is lower for my 5 month old than my 5 year old.
I also really love that it records records of medications given. The timeline on the app is a great visual to see when/if temperatures begin to change and if symptoms are resolving.
Perhaps my only downside to this is that it relies on batteries. We don't always have batteries on hand, and it would be great if Kinsa had a rechargeable option for this thermometer.
Overall, we really love this product and will not go back to our other thermometer!”
“This thermometer is a game changer! First off, I am SO impressed with the accuracy of this thermometer. In the past, I have had issues with accuracy and consistency with both temporal and ear thermometers. They wouldn't read the same twice in a row, and were very discrepant from mercury thermometers. The Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer reads consistently and is spot on when compared to our mercury thermometers! Impressive!
Another insanely convenient feature is its ability to connect to the smart app! Each reading is recorded via a Bluetooth connection and is saved to the child's individual profile! When he reading is complete, the app gives guidance as to the severity of the fever and possible next steps. It also prompts you to log other symptoms the child may be having. I would love to say that my brain is good enough to remember all of this, but I typically laboriously log symptoms and temperatures elsewhere. This app takes out multiple steps and records accurate and complete information! I am able to see recent information as well as pull up past temperature and symptom information! Not only was I impressed, my pediatrician couldn't believe that a tool like this existed!
The last thing that I was thankful for was how well my kids took to this thermometer! Both kids have some sensory aversions to things near their ears and head. They typically flinch or push away ear thermometers both for the shape and feel of the ear piece, and because the beep next to their ear bothers them. It makes taking temperatures a struggle, especially during the night. This ear piece was SO comfortable for both kids and neither complained about the quick beep! It was SUCH a win!! “This is by far one of the easiest to operate thermometers I have ever used. You just push the button to turn it on, put the sensor in your ear (or your wiggly child's ear) and push the button once and it immediately results. No waiting time! No holding your child still forever while waiting for those flashing lines to result :-). It just tells you the result right away. I really like that there is no need for probe covers which I never seem to have in the same place as the thermometer. The probe can just be cleaned easily with an alcohol wipe. It is also helpful that this works for the whole family. The app is pretty helpful. If both kids and yourself are sick you can easily track each person's temperature, symptoms and treatments. This is great when you're sick and trying to keep track of everyone else. The app also gives advise about what steps to take given the temperature. All around a great product with excellent features.
