“Having chronic, disabling anxiety and panic attacks for over 30 years, I have tried everything. I’ve even learned the breathing technique the Shift gives you, but there is a problem. When you are in the middle of a severe panic attack, you lose focus and concentration (especially when you are driving on a highway or in a crowd of people and do not want to be embarrassed). That said, having the Shift allows me to drive and when panic sets in, I instantly pop it in my mouth and take my first deep belly inhale. For the mouth exhale, the shift forces you to exhale correctly, which is where the magic happens. Your mind goes off the panic and shifts to your breath, and you exhale slowly. It does not interfere with driving, and is a much better alternative than a 2mg Ativan under your tongue. It works. A soda straw does not. I tried and can tell you for certain to not even waste time with that. This is always with me, available in a second to use, and definitely reduces the severity of panic quickly. For general anxiety, I use it a number of times a day for about 10-20 breaths (exhales in this case last much longer than 10 seconds for me.) It totally promotes an overall feeling of calm.
