““Such a simple tool”, I thought. I turned it in my hand wondering how the team came to think of it in the first place. Why is it notched at the tip? Why this length and width? Were the toggle and chain an afterthought or part of the original plan to make it wearable? It’s smooth surface felt cool on my lips. I liked holding it. And then I realized my mindful observations of the Komuso had slowed my breathing and calmed my mind. I felt better for the break from my morning to ponder something unique. But what other benefits did this metal tube have to offer? I read the simple instructions, took a breath and deliberately released it in a long smooth stream through the Komuso. Then I realized that breathing through the ingenious Komuso is an interactive experience between myself and the tool to help me appreciate the life sustaining power of breathing. I’ve never been a smoker but I imagined the behavioral ritual of slipping the cylinder from the pack, admiring the shape, and putting it to the lips. The in-breath is long and deep and there is a hypnotic quality to the act of purposeful breathing. But smoking kills. The Komuso improves life one breath at a time. This is not an exaggeration. Don’t be fooled by its simplicity. Breathe with the Komuso and find your rhythm. Use every portion of your lungs effortlessly. Clear your mind of all but your breath and priorities become clear. Self-care is the best thing you can do for yourself and those you love. In time, subtle changes will become obvious. You will think with more clarity. Your energy will be smoother and sustainable. Your mood will be brighter. Your mental and physical presence will be more pleasing to yourself and others. These are the benefits of mindful breathing. And there are more. We are a society of people in a hurry who use tools to expedite our activities. Komuso is the tool to help you slow down and enjoy the simple act of breathing. In truth, the hormones that create the feeling of anxiety loose intensity when you breathe deeply and raise your oxygen level. Simple enough yet my patients ask for my help to teach them how to breathe mindfully. There are no words of instructions that are better than the intuitive experience of simply using the Komuso. Breath settles the nerves, energizes the muscles, and empowers human beings to realize our potential. Komuso is the simple tool that will benefit you in more ways than you can imagine. I invite you to use it everyday and to enjoy your life to the fullest.

“At first I felt like “it’s a whistle..?” Like I wanted it to do something magical. But it taught me so much about anxiety, I had no idea it was all about the exhale. I have always felt like I held my breath when I ran around my job, busy. It was because I wasn’t fully exhaling. This necklace makes me mindful, I want to use it. My chest feels better after I use it. And it’s attractive.”
“I practice 4-7-8 breathing (fast inhail, long hond, long exhale) for anxiety management, and this is proving to be a helpful tool. My habitual breathing pattern is short, shallow breaths that are very tight and high in my chest--I didn't even realize that wasn't "normal" much contributing to my generally high anxiety levels until I was in my late 30s. I practice my 4-7-8 breathing several times a day
(Particularly when I'm *not* overly anxious so as to practice for when I am) but despite this I have had persistent issues using it when I need it most. This is where my Shift is most useful as a tool--It forces me to slow down the exhale and something about breathing through the little tube makes it easier for me to continue the exhale until I have fully exhaled (something else I find difficult at baseline). That makes it easier on my second 4-7-8 breath to make the fast full inhail (I rarely do this well when I am very anxious on the first breath of my breathing cycles).
The other thing that's useful about it is giving me something to fidget with. I don't like fidget toys. I had an antique, lovely little brass pendant carved to look something like a shark and something like a fish hook that was about the same size and length as the shift that I wore for most of my life, which was very nice to fidget with as it provided some textural stimulation from the carving and could be run up and down the cord or chain (depending on what I had it on at the time). I lost it a few years ago after the clasp broke (I still regret that I didn't notice this for a good 2 hours). I've never really found a good replacement. I won't say that this is a perfect replacement (it lacks the tactile stimulation I used to get from rubbing the carving) but it's the right size and it hangs at about the right length on the long box chain and it is soothing to run up and down the chain in the same way.
I'm quite happy with my purchase overall.”
“I have had my necklace for 8 days now and I am also 8 days sober off of nicotine!! Just having the necklace and something to breath through has helped me as well as the breathing exercises during the day. I no longer feel the need to have a vape in my hand 24/7 lol it’s been GREAT!!”
“This necklace is great, it’s very well made and I’ve been using it daily. I had read how it had helped others who had quit smoking. I’m over the nicotine but not the habit and this really helps me focus on my breath ( going out) and calms me, especially when I’m near smokers. Honestly I could probably have used a straw and gotten the same results but who wants to carry around a straw! This is sooo much better!”
