“I was foolish enough to hand my shift to my 2.5yr old and it promptly disappeared. I had had it 2 days. Guess what, my husband (very kindly) reordered it for me, because I was going to myself. It was/is that good. I used it with my aforementioned 2.5yr old for breathing thru tantrums and myself thru tight spots. After only 2 days, I received a report from daycare today that my 2.5yr old talked another kiddo thru a tough emotional moment today and instructed on breathing. Wtf. For real? Wow. Good job kiddo, but, also, thanks Shift. Can't wait for round 2 to arrive.”
“I practice 4-7-8 breathing (fast inhail, long hond, long exhale) for anxiety management, and this is proving to be a helpful tool. My habitual breathing pattern is short, shallow breaths that are very tight and high in my chest--I didn't even realize that wasn't "normal" much contributing to my generally high anxiety levels until I was in my late 30s. I practice my 4-7-8 breathing several times a day
(Particularly when I'm *not* overly anxious so as to practice for when I am) but despite this I have had persistent issues using it when I need it most. This is where my Shift is most useful as a tool--It forces me to slow down the exhale and something about breathing through the little tube makes it easier for me to continue the exhale until I have fully exhaled (something else I find difficult at baseline). That makes it easier on my second 4-7-8 breath to make the fast full inhail (I rarely do this well when I am very anxious on the first breath of my breathing cycles).
The other thing that's useful about it is giving me something to fidget with. I don't like fidget toys. I had an antique, lovely little brass pendant carved to look something like a shark and something like a fish hook that was about the same size and length as the shift that I wore for most of my life, which was very nice to fidget with as it provided some textural stimulation from the carving and could be run up and down the cord or chain (depending on what I had it on at the time). I lost it a few years ago after the clasp broke (I still regret that I didn't notice this for a good 2 hours). I've never really found a good replacement. I won't say that this is a perfect replacement (it lacks the tactile stimulation I used to get from rubbing the carving) but it's the right size and it hangs at about the right length on the long box chain and it is soothing to run up and down the chain in the same way.
I'm quite happy with my purchase overall.”
“I have had my necklace for 8 days now and I am also 8 days sober off of nicotine!! Just having the necklace and something to breath through has helped me as well as the breathing exercises during the day. I no longer feel the need to have a vape in my hand 24/7 lol it’s been GREAT!!”
“This necklace is great, it’s very well made and I’ve been using it daily. I had read how it had helped others who had quit smoking. I’m over the nicotine but not the habit and this really helps me focus on my breath ( going out) and calms me, especially when I’m near smokers. Honestly I could probably have used a straw and gotten the same results but who wants to carry around a straw! This is sooo much better!”
