“If I could give no stars, I would. I can´t believe Lavera are STILL USING CARMINE (colour from the bodies of crushed insects) at the end of 2025. This is not cruelty-free: The colouring is not a by-product of a living creature which remains alive. BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. I used to buy toiletries from you, but never make-up, until I fancied trying a Lavera lipstick. When I looked at the ingredients list and found carmine I couldn´t believe it. I will take my custom elsewhere from now on. Almost 2026 and fortunately there are many ethical toiletry and cosmetic companies out there to choose from instead.”
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your concerns with us.
We want you to know that a large part of our product range is completely vegan and registered with the Vegan Society in the UK, which you can recognize by the vegan label on our packaging. As part of our ongoing commitment to improvement, we continuously work on optimizing our formulations and replacing animal-derived ingredients with plant-based alternatives or ingredients we develop ourselves wherever possible.
Carmine is used in some of our decorative cosmetics because it has proven to be the most color-stable and transfer-resistant natural option that meets the strict guidelines for certified and controlled natural cosmetics. The alternative would be synthetic colorants, which we choose not to use as a manufacturer of certified natural cosmetics.
We completely understand that this may not align with your personal values, and we respect your decision. If you're interested, we'd be happy to point you toward our vegan-certified products: https://www.lavera.de/produkte/vegane-produkte
Best regards,
Your lavera Team
“Ich bin total verliebt in diese Farbe, bringt sofort gute Laune und man bekommt immer Komplimente.
Ist auch sehr tragbar und nicht irgendwie Neonpink, also am Ende nicht so gewagt wir es hier auf dem Bild erscheint. Fühlt sich gut und pflegend an”
