Hold with one hand and lean slightly forwards over the aerator so that you can apply gently downward pressure on the shaft with the other hand. Now walk forwards and aerate. At the end of the run, pull it up and DROP it into position for the next run (watch your toes though); this sticks it well into the lawn ready to aerate....it's that simple.TIP: If you've got a lot of lawn to do cut some foam pipe insulation and cover the handle - very comfy

The order came through with all the screws and fixings missing. Issues can always occur, but it is the way that a company handles it that matters. After identifying which pieces were missing Lawnsmith immediately sent out a replacement for the entire package and I didn't have to return the original incomplete item. How refreshing not to have to post back the item. I found the item easy enough to use on a well soaked lawn. I am not expecting the penetration to be as effective as a proper corer, but it is speedy and a lot less dangerous than using foot spikes.

Supplied handle fixings are too short and don't reach the nylon inserts in the nuts meaning they are prone to working loose. Adding weights to the roller end makes using it much easier as you don't have to exert so much downward pressure.

Simple to assemble and worked well once I got the knack. The ground has to be soft to penetrate.

So, I brought the aerator to replace the sandals type. I have put it together and had a practice. The roller does need further weight on it, I used a hand dumbbell weight as per the you tube videos. Not sure about how well it will wear yet?

Slightly fiddly, but simple to assemble, despite the limited instructions. Easy to use, especially after watching the Lawnsmith video. Did a better than expected job, which is now reflected in a much improved lawn.

Works perfectly, had to wet the ground first to soften but once soft it worked a treat.

Easier to use on damp or recently wet lawns. I found it really easy to use and free moving and aerated a 100 square metre lawn in less than an hour.
