“I wanted to post a very happy update to my last review where I mentioned that the new batch received in April made my face sting and caused bumps and irritation. This was really bizarre given that I've never had this happen in 1.5 years of using Aqua A multiple times daily. The new ingredient list on my new bottle helped me realize what the problem was. My skin is sensitive to citrus oils in skincare if they are in higher concentrations. My esthetician said that most of her clients with sensitive skin have this issue. The red mandarin peel oil ingredient used to be at the very bottom of the ingredient list and in this current batch with a new ingredient list, it is in the middle. So that made me realize that if I could dilute the red mandarin oil concentration by mixing the new Aqua with something else, that I might be able to lessen the concentration of the red mandarin oil enough to minimize irritation. I normally use 2 pumps of Aqua A for both face and neck. When I mix the 2 pumps of Aqua A with 2.5 pumps of my Maya Chia Advanced response complex cream, I have minimal irritation and am able to use my beloved Aqua A again. I'm sure any cream would work. I wanted to add this review in case anyone else with sensitive skin was experiencing the same issue that I did. I tried diluting the Aqua A with oils and that was much less effective than cream for me. I also tried a mix of oils and cream and the "cream only"option remedied the instant stinging and irritation better than anything. It is still a little irritating and stings but i love this stuff too much ro stop using it and the bumps and irritation are much less by diluting it in cream.This serum is a wonder worker for lessening my wrinkles, and making my skin look younger, tighter and more full of youthful collagen. I look 5 years older within a week of NOT using Aqua A....not exaggerating. So you can only imagine how sad i was when this new batch caused major irritation. This stuff is literally a game changer for my skin. I still hope they will go back to the original formulation or just lessen the red mandarin peel oil, but I must say that I am just so relieved that I found a way to use this amazing serum again. I'm not kidding when I say I could never be without this. No other clean retinol on the market compares to Aqua A, and I've tried them ALL, literally.”
“I have been using Aqua A daily for a year and a half with the most amazing results. In fact, you can see the attached screenshot of my review from Nov 2022, where I just rave about how much I love this serum. I am so sad because this new batch that I received last week immediately burns/stings my skin upon application. In all my 1.5 years of using Aqua A multiple times DAILY, it has never once burned my skin and never caused irritation. After experiencing this burning from the new bottle, I checked the ingredient list of my new box and realized the ingredient list is different. The ingredient list that is on my previous boxes and the current ingredient list on the website are exactly the same, so I was surprised to see a different ingredient list on this new box since Leahlani has not listed or announced a new formulation.
I still have 2 partially full bottles of Aqua A from previous orders that I can use as many times a day as I want with zero irritation, but this new batch burns immediately every time I put it on and it doesn't stop burning my skin. My skin is not sensitive to retinol at all, so if they increased the retinol concentration, I know that's not the issue for me. The only time I have ever had any type of response like this to natural skincare products is when the citrus oils are in higher concentrations. My best guess as to why the burning is happening is that the original ingredient list for Aqua A has red mandarin oil as the 2cnd to LAST ingredient, so there isn't much of it in the original formulation. However, this new batch that I received has red mandarin oil as an ingredient right in the middle of the list, so there appears to be a much larger concentration of this citrus oil. I am hoping that this was just maybe a one time batch with different ingredients. I was very surprised to receive new bottles last week that had a different ingredient list than normal, since I wasn't made aware of any ingredient change before placing my order...Leahlani please don't change the formula, I love this serum so much and I am so bummed that this new batch burns my skin now! I attached photos of the ingredient list from my brand new box compared to a previous box for reference, so you can see the changes side by side. The website still has the same ingredient list as my previous box labeled "original" in the photo. I am hoping that maybe there was just a mistake made with this new batch since I would assume that if they officially changed the ingredient list that they would also have updated the website ingredient list and made customers aware of the change. I can't tell you how sad I am that I can't use this new batch. This serum is so amazing and makes my skin look years younger. I honestly don't know where I'll be without it. I work in the beauty industry and I have tried every clean retinol on the market. NOTHING compares to the results I get with Aqua A. I can't imagine being without this amazing serum, please don't change the ingredients, or at least maybe you might consider making the red mandarin oil the 2cnd to last ingredient as it was before so that sensitive skin can use this still?
