Every Le Chameau boot is constructed by one Maîtres Bottier. In order to become a Maîtres Bottier it takes 9 months of training before they are permitted to construct their first rubber boot.

“A birthday gift for my husband, it's his second pair and he loves them. First pair lasted 5 years of walks every day on all terrains dog walking and beach walking. Eventually they split where the boot meets the heel but lasted about 4 years longer than his boots used too.”

“I have worn these new Wellington boots twice for about a quarter of an hour on each opccasion. I am not impressed at all. The side closure buckles are very difficult to close. On the second occasaion of putting the boots on, the buckle broke apart on the left boot. These buckles seem very cheap and not at all efficient. I speak as the owner of a pair of Le Chameau boots that I bought 22 years ago. Those buckles worked perfectly. Therefore I cannot understand why Le Chameau has changed to such a poor and breakable closure. I bought Le Chameau boots again now as I thought they were the best Wellington boots available on the market. Now I am very unimpressed with my new boots and I wonder how long it will be before the buckles snap off again.”

Hi Ian, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review - I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the quality of the buckles on your boots. These buckles are specifically designed to come apart and off the boots so as to avoid any tearing of the rubber in an instance of catching the boots. How comfortable are your boots?

“The boots are made of a soft rubber and so are very forgiving and comfortable. The neoprene liner has meant that I have still been warm footed even on frosty mornings. Mine have come up very slightly larger than expected and so it gives me room for a second pair of socks which is perfect for most conditions. I am very happy with the boots so far (2 months wear so far) I will have to wait to comment on how they last longer term. I use them for dog walking across open countryside averaging about 8,000 steps per morning.”
