There is no timer. Only option is on/off. Others that cost less either come with a remote or option on the switch for on/off/ 6 hours on,

The melted edges give the candles an extra character and they look great on the vintage candelabra i bought at a garage sale.

Flicker effect is unrealistic. Way too much contrast. Quality and function are fine. I just don’t care for the way it moves.
