If your muslin curtain seems a little too long after delivery, that's completely normal. Muslin has a unique texture and settles into its final length only after the first wash.
The best way to care for it is:
1. Wash the curtain first
Give the curtain a wash to remove any creases caused by shipping and packaging.
2. Gently shake it out
After washing, gently shake out the curtain, but please do not pull it straight. This helps preserve the beautiful natural muslin texture.
3. Hang it up while still damp
Hang the curtain directly on your curtain rod while it is still slightly damp and allow it to air dry there. This helps prevent new wrinkles from forming. If you dry it on a drying rack instead, the fabric may develop new creases.
Alternative: Use a tumble dryer
If you have a tumble dryer, you can also place the curtain in it for a short time. This usually leaves the fabric looking smooth and ready to hang right away.
The fabric will shrink slightly during the first wash. This is a completely normal characteristic of muslin and is what creates and maintains its beautiful, natural texture.
Important: Please do not iron the fabric. Ironing can stretch it back out, making it longer again, and may also damage the characteristic muslin texture.
