“generally I like this launcher - the battery issue is annoying - sometimes for no reason it doesn't trigger - then I check the battery with a multimeter and find it's at around 8v which seems to be a threshold of reliable function - researched lio and rechargables - all reports give energizer batteries best review for this application - use launchers with pigeons mainly to train stop to flush - launch fail is bad training - dog is not supposed to get close to the set up - how to beat the unreliability ? use this launcher with another, powered by a heavier onboard 12v rechargable battery, (DIY unit @ 1/3 the price), with automobile remote door latch trigger - more reliable but shorter range - if the DT doesn't trigger - this DIY unit sitting next to it does but need be closer, then with dog(s) standing, walk in and kick the DT open - sometimes do the same drill with 3 launchers: these two and an old LCS that doesn't trigger anymore - pop one with dog(s) running, dog(s) stop, pop the 2nd while walking into the set up and kick the last one and sometimes drop one from a bag - lesson: better stop on the wild flush, good chance there're more birds where that one came from - dogs get pretty steady, pretty quick - just be ready to work around the gliche”
