“The whole point of a silver crown bulb is that it directs all light up. In a regular filament globe the concept works perfectly, since the filament sits in the bottom half of the globe, so you only end up with nice soft reflected light - nothing direct.
This particular LED globe sits half above and half below the silver crown, which means that when its on, the little LEDs above the silver crown will give a harsh direct light into your eyes (if the light isn't installed high on a ceiling.) In our case the globes are about head height, so they're quite uncomfortable to stand next to.
My own fault, and I should have realised this was the case before I bought it. Overall it is a very well make product, and the packaging for posting was great. I will definitely buy from LiquidLEDs again, but we just have to find different globes.”
