The feeder is perfect - works exactly as described and seems weather and vermin proof. The only problem is that our hens are very suspicious of it and after five days still have not had any food from it! They circle it but do not dare step on the green treadle, which we’ve weighed down with a stone to give them easy access. I’m sure they’ll get the hang of it in the end - hopefully before they die of hunger. Would recommend getting one when you can be around to supervise for a while.

The 8kg was out of stock so went with the 5kg one instead had a dent in the back panel of it and aluminium side slightly bent in on one side which stopped the green footplate operating, quick adjustment got it moving again, probably down to couriers handling, who knows. Other than that looks like it will do its job, hens still learning how to use it.

Taking the chickens a little time to get used to the moving parts but certainly best feeder for keeping the feed dry and safe from mice.

Taking a bit of time for chickens to work out how to use it. Some can and others can’t. It is difficult to know which ones can. On the positive it keeps the the food dry in all this torrential rain. I am sure eventually it will do what it says on the tin.

This is an excellent buy from a brilliant supplier. We were losing food rapidly to vermin and the treadle feeder is brilliant - it needs the weight of the hen to open the feeding tray. It took a day or three for the hens to get used to the movement of the treadle when they stand on it ... and we have set the feeder to deliver the maximum food to the feeding tray, otherwise the hens appeared not to see that there was food available! I rang and spoke to farm before ordering to check on the size of feeder - we got the 8kg version for three hens - but I think it would be fine for 10. I ordered on the internet at 3pm and the feeder arrived next day at 11am. Wonderful service!
