My 90-year-old mother lives with me and is doing very well; however, she has a habit of tipping over onto the floor at least once a month. The last time this happened, I strained my back trying to lift her. Although pricey, we purchased the Elk Lifting System and our stress level has decreased considerably. The product is very well constructed and worth the investment. Thank you.

I bought the Mangar Elk from Live Oak and was very pleased with the product and service. The Elk works exactly as described and is more stable and convenient than I expected.

The lift is easy to use, and does what its designed to do, but one word of warning. After only one use, you MUST charge the unit for 16 + hours before it's ready for use again. Also, once it's charged, you MUST keep it plugged into the charger as the charge will NOT hold. I didn't do this, and when I went back to the unit (after a fall) the unit was dead. Had to wait another 16 hours before it was ready (full green bars). The owners manual does say it recommends storing the unit always plugged in to the power unit. looking to purchase another battery to keep on hand. It will mean removing the battery from the housing and storing (with a trickle charger). Also, you do need a person on hand to assist with lifting as the way the airbag is designed, it airs filling one side more than the other (lifting you at an angle). If you don't have a person there to assist, you could slide off the unit (causing another fall) if you do not have good balance.

Set up is simple. Product easy to use. Unfortunately my wife fell recently and fortunately the lifting cushion was ready to get her back on her feet. Could not have lifted her without the product. Prevented another 911 call for help.

My husband is a cancer patient and has fallen or slid out his chair . I needed a way to help him get up . I looked at this system and found that I could lift him without calling for help.

We bought the ELK as a more merciful solution as to how to get my wife back up again when she falls. Her left side is weak due to strokes 10 years ago. Well, the ELK really works! As a retired engineer, I appreciate the strong design and build quality. As it says in the instructions, you do have to provide a chair or other sturdy item next to the ELK as each section is inflated. My wife lifted me one time so I could experience it for myself. As each section starts to inflate, it's very wiggly and you absolutely need something at your side to steady you. But then soon that section is inflated and the whole stack is very firm and sturdy feeling. After the third or fourth section is inflated, you can simply stand up! This is gonna be great! I only wish we could've had this solution for the last ten years. After use, you just disconnect the air hoses and all the air rushes out and it goes flat on the floor. You don't even have to press the air out. Just roll it back up. We bought a 27 inch duffel bag to keep it in (even though the ELK itself rolls into a handy package). The bag should assist in keeping dust from accumulating. Bill K.

With this device I will be able to help my wife off of the floor with ease by myself with out hurting her self esteem and pride and with in minutes instead of hours. She has fallen several times and it has taken 3 or more to get her up without causing any damage to her.
