“I did the swap out of the Optical drive for the 250GB OWC Mercury Electra 6G SSD Solid State Drive - 7mm with the Data Doubler kit into my 2011 21.5in iMac, the drive is great, the speed difference is amazing, instant success.
If you feel the install looks a bit daunting don’t hesitate to get a pro to install it, there can be one or two glitches with tiny, fiddly connections, its well worth the money.

“Had to buy 2 new SATA ribbons — the first (an expensive one from Macfixit) still didn't work; the second (a cheapie from eBay) did the job. Apparently this is a known shortcoming of the SATA ribbons in the MacBook Pro 2012 models.”
