Finally enough space on my macbook pro. The hard drive works great and thanks to the video it was quite easy to put in.

I bought the 1Tb SSD upgrade foe my MacBook Air. On the upside it allowed enough space for me to run Parallels Desktop and have a Mac and PC running simultaneously at astounding speed. On the downside the bigger SSD uses more power and reduced my battery life by quite a bit. Everything has a cost. The storage and performance gain comes at a cost of shorter run-time on battery. It is worth it though.

Despite one or two minor issues, this drive and enclosure deserves a top score. Both new drive and external enclosure for the old drive have worked seamlessly since installation. The instructions are easy to follow and all the needed tools are included. The issues mentioned are that the new drive is renamed from "Macintosh HD" to "OWC Aura SSD" which can cause problems with some software, and I didn't want to rename the disc back to "Macintosh HD" in case this would inpact performance. If necessary the software can be re-installed, in my case it was possible to rescan all of my Native Instruments music making software, so that all the instrument libraries could be found again. Finally, I had difficulties formatting the external drive. Once that was done it initially didn't recognise the new external drive, but after the initial error message all worked seamlessly. So do not be put off if there are minor issues during the upgrade. With a bit of care and attention to detail, the upgrade is well worth it and good value for money. The external enclosure is stylish and funtional, and a delight to use. Overall I would thoroughly recomend this upgrade kit.
