“Other food items from Mackenzie have been excellent. I had high expectations for the Short Rib Manicotti as I LOVE short ribs and I LOVE pasta. However, this dish was barely edible. First; the cooking directions were way off in terms of baking time. It was supposed to bake for 35 minutes (from frozen) or to 165 degrees. After 35 minutes, it was only 100 degrees. An additional 20 minutes resulted in a temp of 140 degrees and it took another 10 min to reach 165. The dish was very "watery" but as the instructions further stated to let set for 10 min, I expected it to firm up, which it did not. The short rib meat itself had the look and texture of canned loaf dog food and, while I've never sampled my dog's food, I suspect it didn't taste much better.
I generally don't leave such a bad review as I was raised "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". However, considering the price of this casserole, it's only fair to prospective buyers to get my honest opinion.”
