“I first saw an ad for the A game Hydro hat while drunk scrolling my Instagram. The first thing that caught my eye was the simple but attractive style of it. The hat game is weird, some bills are too long and some hats sit high on your head making your forehead look like Peyton Manning's. Even the slightest little thing can make a big difference but I saw that these guys put a lot of thought into their design. I clicked on the link to buy and then I saw the price. $60 are you kidding!? Even drunk, spontaneous me wouldn't buy a hat for $60. So I did what most millennials do, I wrote a review. I didn't bash the hat because I hadn't had the pleasure yet. I simply said it was crazy to charge that much for a hat. I can say with confidence that I was wrong. About the hat AND more importantly, about the company. I got an email response from Brian at Melin THE NEXT DAY. Like, I woke up to it. He professionally stated that I had a guarantee if I didn't like the hat and that he knows the price is at the higher end of the market but he was confident I wouldn't be sending it back. I still was skeptical because for $60, it better be the best hat I've ever adorned my crown. So, being a man of my word I bought one. The A game hydro in gray heather. Shopping was easy for me but it would even be easy for your veteran grandpa who still has a landline phone with the large format numbers. I got 10% off from the code on their website because I'm still not paying full price if I don't have to. The shipping description said "regular shipping." The hat was at my door THE NEXT DAY. Like, I woke up to it. I should clarify, I don't get up until noon but still... fast. I unbox this bad boy and I skip the youtube "unboxing" video because although I am a millennial, I'm an elder millennial (cred to Iliza Schlesinger). I can see the quality right away. Well stitched, soft fabric under the crown. The brim was firm, yet flexible which sounds contradicting but true. Then I put it on. I soiled myself. After changing shorts I put it on again. It fits like a cashmere pair of leather driving gloves but that's a separate review. I looked in the mirror and this hat gives me the confidence to walk up to a baddie at a Harvey Weinstein party in Hollywood and steal her from a drunk Brad Pitt with no shirt on. I'm a 6 on a good day and this hat makes me look like an 11. Still, I'm a little skeptical because of one thing, sweat rings. Those ugly white outlines you get on the brim that make you want the throw even your best hat in the trash and burn the trash can. So I wore the hat as I worked out. I sweat like a nun at a Hell's angels rally so I knew this hat was in for it. After an hour long cardio workout the hat was still comfortable. I never got that weird itch from the elastic fabric on the brim. Then I took it off and waited for the sweat ring. After an hour, nothing. I smelled the hat. C'mon it didn't smell like flowers but it was impressive for something that just got a sweat bath. I put the hat back on to see if it stretched. It snapped back better than Robert Downey Jr.
I still want to take it to the lake to test the water wicking feature but after everything so far, I'm expecting it to be a seal. In summation, I don't regret spending the extra money knowing this thing makes me look my best, performs well and the company had all my best interests in mind.”
