“I'd been low-key lusting after a Melin cover for my dome for months when a more-substantial-than-anticipated paycheck arrived direct deposit. Having read literally hundreds of rave reviews, I was all but certian I'd find their caps worth the bread but which style/fit/colorway to choose?? I again spent no short time paging through my options and finally settled on the Advocate Thermal edition in Heather Grey. Not strictly a cold weather cap in that the wool blend is supposed to relax when you need to vent some steam from your cranium & hold tight while shedding water/sweat when it's insulating properties are needed, I went with it as it's depths of winter cold where i am. Being the first hat I've splurged on in multiple years, this from a guy who before recently downsizing had nearly 50 various hats, I eagerly anticipated it's arrival here in the midwest from it's west coast birthplace. Even paid the extra 15$ for 2nd eat air, and although a "mechanical failure" on UPS's part saw it arrive after 5 days, Melin graciously & willingly refunded me for the extra cost of the expedited shipping.
Immediately out of the box it's obvious that a Melin cap is uniquely exquisite, substantial in hand yet truly refined down to the smallest detail. The difference in quality between any Melin hat & the closest competitor is hard to understand until experienced first hand, but suffice to say all others renain firmly in the bush leagues while Melin is leader of the pros. 100% worth the coin, and when considered the cost of say a new New Era 59
Fifty fitted cap can exceed 40$, the relatively small difference in price dramatically downplays the tremendous difference in quality. It's only Melin for my noggin from here on out, as I've legit become spoiled by the old-world, crafted-with-pride look and feel of this under recognized King of Caps.
