“This is a review of the Odysea Stacked Hydro - Olive Camo. It’s become my favorite hard-use hat, for long outdoors adventures and sweaty gym workouts. It’s so comfortable I forget I have it on. Many hats have a ridge along the forehead from the bill. This ridge can put pressure above the eyebrows. But the hard-use Hydros never do. They also wick the sweat, keep my head cool, and stand up to the light washings I give them when I get home. They’re still looking crispy-new, with no discoloration or staining. I can’t say that about every manufacturer’s hats.
I’ve been collecting hats for decades ever since my time in the Army. I wear hats every day. At the moment, I have over 20 Melins, and they often receive compliments when I’m out and about - even the winter-weight Thermals! I visit the website every so often, hoping for more colors and fabric styles.
People comment on the high price, but to me the quality is totally worth it. I know where to buy a less expensive hat. But what if I want a superb hat? Some other companies’ water-friendly athletic start to lose their shape and color way too soon with intense daily use. I also appreciate Melin’s construction details, like the firm structured crowns, the besom pockets inside, the rubberized undervisor seals (for the right-hand thumb), and the soft, tactile, heavy-duty snapback closure strips. I really hope Melin never compromises on these details! I wear hats every day, and want them to look great for a long time.
