“Officially the nicest, most functional, most stylish hat I own and I have about 15 Melin hats. I guess I’m a Melin snob . The fur is VERY akin to rabbit so it’s incredibly soft and the fact that it’s weather resistant makes it a win/win. Looks super sharp with a bomber jacket on.”
“I really, really like this hat. But I don’t love it.
To preface I have bought at least 10 Melin hats and I’m a huge fan. No hat looks and fits better on me. The quality, fit, and finish on this hat is everything I’ve come to expect from Melin and maybe even more. It is such a well made hat down to the minor details.
However… for some reason that is beyond me, they have decided to add an underwire to the outside edge of the ear flaps. It follows the flap all the way around from one side to the other. So the flaps have this weird stiffness and don’t really want to lay flat on your ears unless you manipulate them for a minute or two. I bought this for cold Colorado mountain temps, and when I want to cover my ears for warmth, it would be nice to be able to just unbutton the flaps and have them lay flat against my ears right away instead of sticking up like a dog’s ears in the wind. As it stands, you have to take the hat off and adjust them to get them to lay flat against your head. Who knows, maybe over time the wire will “loosen” and the ear flaps will cooperate more easily. If that’s the case I’ll change my review to 5 stars.
For now it’s 4 stars and still a buy for me because it really is a phenomenal hat. The fur is so soft and comfy, it’s easy to overlook the one minor issue.”
