“I’m a recipient of the gift of the A-Game Scout Thermal hat. My friend got me the gift as a surprise and mailed it to me. When he placed the order, he used my phone number, not realizing that I would get a text when it shipped. I randomly received a text from Melin saying I had an order on the way. When I looked at the order details and saw the price, my immediate thought was “Jesus, that is an expensive hat!”
Suspecting that it was my friend Mark who purchased the hat for me (because he recently asked me some questions about the size of my head), I sent a him a text saying exactly that. Only I didn’t text it to Mark. Indeed, I mindlessly texted that to Melin in response to their order status text message. They responded in-kind. And quite convincingly. A screenshot of Melin’s response is attached. “I guess we shall see,” I thought to myself.
When I received the hat, I immediately understand that a new love had found me. I am now a huge fan and have purchased a few more hats for myself and as gifts for others. The quality, feel, and look are absolutely unrivaled and worth every penny. I’m serious.
The story is not even over.
A few weeks after I got the hat, I went to my parents’ house and brought my new Melin hat with me in a carrying bag that it originally it came with. The carrying bag, I figured, would protect the hat from a variety of sources of wear and tear.
We showed up at my parents’ house at 2 AM after a 5 hour drive. When we got there, we dropped all our stuff in the foyer and went to bed.
The next day, my brother came over with his kids and ankle-biter dog, Teddy, who loves annoying the crap out of my perfect angel puppy dog princess from heaven above, Xena.
After hanging out all morning, my wife and I decide to move our stuff out from the foyer. I pick up my hat and, much to my surprise, the bag is soaking wet, though there is ZERO evidence of any water or moisture around the area where the hat was laying. WTF!?
After 30 minutes of investigation, including lots of feeling, looking, and sniffing, and asking my entire family to do the same, we collectively concluded that Teddy had actually peed on my brand new Melin hat. It seems the titillating blend of wool and natural leather aromas was simply too much for Teddy.
I was not happy, but what’s a man to do?
After about 30 minutes of sulking, I ran the hat under some lukewarm water and let it dry out. A day later, it was completely dry and, to my surprise, it didn’t smell like dog pee. Not even a little bit! That’s right folks, not only does this hat kick tushy in all the traditional categories, it defeats dog pee. I expect this may have to do with the anti microbial properties of the wool (and possibly the natural leather)?
I have worn many-a-hat in my day, and have abused them in many-a-type of ways and means. Most of them have been run into the ground and thrown away in little-to-no time. Admittedly, I have not had any of my previous hats peed on before (by human or animal), but I’m confident they would not have survived that and even just a little pee would have put them out of commission! But not the Melin A-Game Scout. This thing can take whatever you throw at it, and I am quite thrilled about finding a hat company that I can rely on for many years to come.
