“I discovered Melin hats about 18 months ago. I have at least a dozen hats now. Simply the best I’ve ever owned. They are still in the “if you know you know” category but it’s funny when you run into another dude who knows. I live in the south…they are still early on the penetration here but it won’t be long. Buy one…then you will buy more and then you will “get it:”
“This is my fourth Melin hat (third in the odyssey style), and this one takes the prize for best hat I’ve ever purchased. The craftsmanship on this beauty is unreal, and very clearly evident! The materials are top-notch and water-resistant as always, the fit is excellent (like my other odysseys), and overall I couldn’t be happier with spending $100 on a hat. It also came with a soft travel bag, which is just an added bonus!
One note I’ll add is that the thermal feature on this scout one is not like the infinite thermal (infinite thermal has extra insulation on the dome that this one does not have). This scout style just has a little extra insulation around the headband. It’s enough to add a bit of warmth, and good for cool weather or short periods in the cold, but I personally wouldn’t rely on it alone to keep my head completely warm for long periods of time out in the really cold, snowy weather. But that’s not really why I bought the hat anyways, or else I would’ve gotten the infinite thermal version instead. I really liked the look and materials on this one and it doesn’t disappoint in the slightest.
