“I chose a 25 mm stage micrometer so I could confirm measurements of a laser engraved scientific item and compare it with previous hand-engraved similar items with markings that are in approximately a 22 x 13 mm area. This enabled me to examine the various samples to 0.01 of a millimetre, which is critical for their accuracy, and then adjust their measurements by various 100ths of a millimetre at a time in the laser program (Lightburn) until they were correct and took into account the width of the various laser lines in the engraved area.”
