“The Saiga antelope (Saiga tatarica) has a certain "unique beauty", namely it’s large, bulbous, flexible nose that hangs over the mouth. This is beautifully represented in the model. In nature, the large nose filters the dry and dusty air of the desert in summer. In the harsh winter it acts on the icy air, by humidifying and warming it before it enters the lungs. The model is beautifully coloured and proportioned and has lovely delicate legs. He arrived with nose and antler protection in place.”
