CollectA Elasmotherium Deluxe Reviews

The last addition to CollectA's 2019 Pre-Historic line in Deluxe size is the Elasmotherium which means 'thin plate beast'. This was an extinct genus of rhinoceros found in Eurasia. It had longer legs than a modern rhino and would have had a horse-like gait. The great horn may have been used during mating or served a practical use of digging up plants and clearing away snow.
CollectA thought that it would be nice to do a toy Elasmotherium sibericum for a change rather than the usual woolly rhinoceros that everyone else has done. This Elasmotherium is quite a hefty toy. They plumped for a hairy animal as most likely (and for aesthetic reasons) although there is no proof either way whether they had pelts and have based the presumed horn on the Paleolithic cave painting from the same cave in Rouffignac that is thought to represent the creature often referred to as 'the Siberian unicorn'.

This one leans slightly to its right but it stands up perfectly fine. I know it was big but I was still surprised when I unboxed it. While it lacks some finer detail it looks the part and the focus appears to on the head. I'm very happy with it.

The figure is quite heavy and solid. A really cool figure, the details are focused around the head.

A great model to add to my prehistoric mammal collection, but the purchase was really because it is replicated as a "Mudhorn" in "The Mandolorian" TV series and looks fantastic when posed with my Star Wars Mando and Grogu figures, plus it is pretty much to scale! :) That aside, this is another great CollectA model, and a great tribute to the "Siberian unicorn". Really nice paint and textures.

An incredibly detailed and a very accurate version of an extinct Elasmotherium:- that is made even more impressive by it’s very large size. Has got many features that are highly impressive.

So many of the other collections only offer woolly rhinos for their prehistoric mammals. I was exited to see CollectA offering the rather neat looking Elasmotherium, which had only one horn, albeit large, centered between the eyes. CollectA has delivered again with this one, a very good solid and detailed model of a rather impressive member of the rhino family. The colors and the texture of the mode are very detailed. A most have for prehistoric mammal fans.
