“I like this very nice smilodon in the form of a tiger. I will wonder how the smilodon bite with the long canine standing in it way. Perhaps all scientist are wrong about how the long tooth/tusk is used. The tusk may be used to dig just like warthog instead, except it is facing downward”
“I like tiger. So this smilodon is definitely one of my favourite. The quality is great, except the white ring painted around the eyes look a bit weird to me. Safari ltd normally dont do well in painting, this figure has improved a lot. Overall, get it before it run out of stock.”
“This 2004 release of Smilodon by Safari Ltd from a scientific accuracy standpoint is average at best. I believe the stripe theory for Smilodon was very wrong. Also this sculpting tends to protray Smilodon with a more modern cat build, than the more stocky and primitive morphology that Smilodon had.
Safari's 1988 Carnegie release of Smilodon is so vastly superior in accuracy and build than this latter release. The Safari Carnegie scuplting has been discontinued since 1997, and quite rare to come by.”
