“Very fun! When you first start, it can be a bit confusing but the guide and glossary are very helpful. There also seems to be very good balance in the power of cards. There are several ways you can approach a win and you really won’t know who wins until points are tallied.
The cards are very punny, and the art style is super cute! The cards also seem to be good quality and aren’t super flimsy.
We have played several rounds in our house and each time it’s a new game! It’s not the same game every time and has excellent re-playability. Would definitely recommend as a light/moderate board game player game.”
“Relatively easy to learn but there are a lot of symbols to keep track of. The kickstarter exclusive expansion plant cards seem to have a clear advantage over the regular cards (unless I am scoring these incorrectly). The cards are very cute.”
“I thought this would be fun and light hearted...and it is! You also get to strategize a solid amount! Great art, great quality, cool game! The theme is fun and goofy”
“Plantopia is a game about planting “baby” plants, using weather card combos to grow them in level, and [tre]evolving them into point scoring plants. The card quality and art is excellent, with funny plant puns and all the cute, shiny finish that you can handle. The game plays relatively quick but has enough strategic depth to satisfy both casual and veteran gamers. A thumbs up from me and my partner.”
“I love the art of the game and there was a lot of fun checking out all the cards. However, the mechanics of the game itself are too confusing on a first run-through. It took close to 30 minutes to simply understand how to set up the game and another 10 minutes, in the end, to figure out the point system. It seems like there are simply too many mechanics (each card has an ability, a cost, a type, a condition, etc.).”
