“This book is amazing! The first 67 pages are informational. There is a lot of information about children and creativity and how to help them meet each other. Also, there is a list of "suggested materials" with a wonderful resource that I now use for all of my "arts and crafts" purchasing. Also, there are so many activities provided...and so many extensions and extensions-to-extensions. I am able to use this book equally as well with my 2 year old as I am with my almost 5 year old. I cannot recommend this book enough...especially for anyone who wants to allow children to create and explore and grow as an artist.”

“I have used this resource for years and recommend it to everyone. One year I invited the author, Regina Barnett, to come and do a week long teaching, many years ago, and it was great! Four great parts:1. Fantastic research on the stages of art development in young children. I have made this info into a Power Point workshop for teacher training.2. Teaches 5 basic skills: isolates the difficulty and then gradually combines skills and increases difficulty.3. All process oriented, but her indirect preparation of art concepts yields amazing results.4. Written like a Montessori manual.One difficulty:1. The environment must be prepared, rotated, and kept stocked, (what's new?), so it does take some time.[...]”

“We ask graduate students to pick an exercise for each area and demonstrate it in class. The resulting products of this simple activity is beautiful and encourages student to make variations.[...]”
