This is especially fun for children who have been reading Viking Tales, Leif the Lucky and other stories from that region. Both my 5yo and 8yo have been able to master the simple stitches with the knitting fork, though we haven't tried the more complicated ones yet. Great for developing fine motor skill and finger strength. We've used regular yarn and paracord for various projects.

I bought this lucet to learn how Viking women made cord. I found it easy to use (though the instructions that came with it are unclear, videos can be found on the internet) and addictive. I make cord while watching TV with my family. The wood is polished but not varnished, so the yarn or whatever fiber you are using slips easily over the tines.
