“Since I wrote my last review in November, things have only gotten worse. I finally got the repaired/corrected retracts back only to find that the nose strut was slightly longer than the original one and would no longer fit into the front nose well by about 1/4. Motion RC was kind enough to send me 3 new wheels which were 2 3/4. Despite the smaller wheel diameter, I still had to trim part to the nose well and fuselage to get the nose gear to fully retract. I did get to maiden the plane and it flew well. Fortunately, it was maidened with the gears down. When it landed, none of the gears would retract. Turns out not one retract servo could handle the weight of the struts even without a wheel on them. They've all been returned to MotionRC and they are back to the drawing board to figure this one out. I purchased this plane in October and it's still not flyable.I'm not sure there was a competent engineer who designed this model. DONT BUY IT.”

“The ARF came beautifully packaged and was received with no damage. The build itself is solid and well done. The manual was typical and left things out. I have 1-2 left over parts that I have no idea where they go. So plan ahead before completing a step. For example, only one small picture shows where the wing leads (ailerons, flaps, gear) come out of the wings. There was no pre-cut hole or verbal instructions and I ended up improvising before I could attach the wings to the fuselage.. I ordered the compatible landing gear sold by Motion RC. It took quite a bit of modification of the front nose well for it to fit. In order for it not to bind, I had to place a small piece of plywood between the nose landing gear and the wooden block in the fuselage. Even after that, I had to grind down part of the landing gear servo housing for it to work. The wing wells are too deep for the wings so gluing them down was difficult. Installing an electric engine was a real challenge. There were poor instructions for which of the included 3 templates to use for mounting of my electric engine. I chose an E-Flite Power 90 since it was about the same size as the Admiral one and had slightly more power. The included standoffs for the engine put the engine about 2 inches inside the cowl so I had to search for longer stand-offs. I found what I needed at McMaster-Carr and was finally able to get the motor mounted correctly. After all was put together over a several week period (forget about a 6 hour build), I put in my two four cell batteries and the front nose gear compression spring was not strong enough to support the weight of the 2 batteries. The front nose gear collapsed on itself. In addition, one of the main landing gear servos failed to function. Motion RC customer service has been great to work with. Right now, it has been 2 months since I bought the ARF and am waiting on the corrected landing gear before I can proceed with a maiden flight”

“The plane was received well packed in a box within a box. Hardly any initial ironing was required. Once I got into the build, I did find the hardware was not very good and I had to replace almost all of it. The manual is quite lacking so read it very carefully before completing any step. Much is left out of the build. And don't expect a 6 hour build. It takes much longer. All in all, it's a beautiful build and worth the purchase.”

“I gave her a quick look over to make sure there was no damage. She was wrapped up really tight. Must have used a lathe to spin the bubble around the fuse Glad they didn't use too much tape. Anyway, All was well except for a small blemish on the turtle deck near the rudder. Nothing worth complaining about, for Im sure if I did , Motion rc would do whatever they could. Looks like nice quality, I like the way it looks without even putting the decals on, but the scale buffs would crucify me without. Probly won't get her in the air till next spring I have 2 projects on the table in front. Thank you, Motion for bringing in Blackhorse Balsa Models.”

“IS this bird worthy of the COST to build. From the moment that a opened the box I was impressed. Each time that I pick up another piece, it is sheer beauty to consider the craftsmanship of it.And to think this journey started with a scam on Facebook. Thank you”
