“I am having a few nose-wheel landings as I get used to the A6. This nosegear assembly is just not strong enough. However, I was able to salvage parts from two assemblies to make a new one, so I have at least one more landing to try!”
“This isn't much of a retract for an 80mm aircraft. It fails rather easily if you do not flare a perfect landing. I purchased this for the Freewing 80mm A-6 intruder. The aircraft takes a 6s 4500 battery that goes in the nose, RIGHT OVER THE LANDING GEAR! Lots of weight right on top of this retract. I definitely would recommend something with metallic gears or consider purchasing these things in bulk!”
“Right retrac failed to go up in flight. A new set was recommended because of recurrent failures of various types. Got sent a bunch of stuff to rebuild instead of a pre-built set. Sent it all back and am waiting for out of stock set. Kept trying to fix retrac. Don't know what I did, but now it works....total mystery!!! Motion RC has my money in returned parts, so am waiting for a complete set when they come in stock. SNAFU all the way!! Am not happy!!!”
“Love the F86. Had a couple of landings just fine and suddenly the nose gear gave up. The worn gear bent. Reading all the others review I am not alone...Bought a new set and got it within a week. Super service Motion RC!YR”
“This will be the third retract I have run in my F-86 including the original. I have found this product to be weak for anything other than a perfect or near perfect landing. I lost the first one when my plane ran out the runway and contacted grass. It immediattley folded up. The second one failed on a somewhat heavy landing, which should not have been an issue. It appears the worm gear takes to much stress and bends easily and lets the trunnion slip if any force is put on it. To bad Freewing couldnt have made these as robust as the ones on my 90mm Stinger. Gear on the Stinger rock and are bullit proof.”
“Retract is fine but gets 4 stars not five cause it's not quite strong enough for the F-86. Had two bounce's on one landing and ran off the end of runway into rough grass on an other and both times gear loosened up going back and forth. Front gears need change. If you stick your landing like I do most of the time gear should hold. Check other reviews on this.”
“Last year I ordered an EDF 80mm F-86, overall I was happy with my purchase.. but the rc-honeymoon ended as the nose retract did not work! ... called Motion RC and they agreed to replace it (which never happened)..so after 7 months waiting for re-stocking, I finally got (bought) it. This little buggers work just fine if it is a good one, but in the event you get to dance with the ugly one, don't even bother trying to fix it..it is cheaper to replace it.”
