“Excellent model. I gave 4 stars only because when I received it the top right stabiliser had a big 1/4 inch wide scratch on it from the leading edge to the trailing edge.”

“Foamy's have become excellent planes nowadays and this Avanti is one of the very best out there. Perfect fit and finish and easy assembly. Absolute great flyer and pretty fast too (I get 220 - 230 km/h measured with pitot tube). Moved back the CG by 1 - 2 cm for better handling in flight and landing. With 6s 5800mAh I get 5 minutes flight (with throttle management).Very happy with the hardware so far; servo's perform excellent, edf is almost perfectly balanced and sounds amazing, landing gear performs very well on our rough grass field (but you need to check the set screws on the gear legs regularly as they tend to come loose!)Have done about 60 flights and like it that much that I ordered a second one as a spare (just in case...).”

“After being away from the hobby for over 13 years I recently purchased a 4.2M composite glider as a long term project and wanted something fun I could fly in the meantime until that project is completed. After doing a lot of research on EDF's (I was not really interested in jets in the past but something triggered my interest) I came across the Eflite 90mm Viper and almost purchased one of those when I watched some videos of the Avanti. From what I could tell the Avanti does not have some of the nasty stall tendencies of the Viper, has about the same top speed, and is a great entry point into jets.Well, I had the maiden 3 days ago, Frsky X20S controlling and an SMC 6000 80C 6S and what a pleasure to fly! Take off roll was fairly short with 1st flap level, little up elevator for a gradual climb and only trim needed was for some up elevator for what was a bit of nose heaviness (corrected in the second flight by sliding the battery back a tad). Greased the landing which was not hard onto short grass, beautiful to watch! On the assembly side it was straightforward, although I did have 2 issues. Even though it was packaged pretty well UPS did their thing and banged it up pretty good, as a result there was a nasty crease on the wingtip starting at the edge of the aileron but it seemed structurally OK so I just touched up the torn off paint (Motion RC states that minor damage, imperfections etc are not covered under warranty).Other issues is that one wing does not butt up quite close enough to the fuse for one of the wing screws to line up, the flange of the screw had to be forced on the edge of the square cutout to go all the way in. This was a QC issue and I suggest Motion provide feedback to Freewing to do a wing insertion and lineup check before packaging.Other than that, very happy! What a day and age that you can get a high powered EDF for $400.00 that flies so well!I don't suggest the manual's rates, I got these off a forum member and they worked perfectly:Low Medium HighAilerons: Low 9.5mm Medium 15.9mm High 22mmElevators: Low 15.9mm Medium 19mm High 22mmRudder: Low 19mm Medium 25.5mm High 28.5mmFlaps: 15.9mm (takeoff) 32mm (landing)”
