Product is used as replacement for nose gear in Freewing T-33. Product functions properly as long as it is not subject to any sudden uneven landing surface or side loading. The metal is very brittle and breaks easily at the recess cutout for grub screws. I have already replaced 5 of these pins.

I bought this pin to replace the stock pin that came with my T33 because the stock one was bending due to the grass field I fly off of. Big mistake. The stock pin would bend a bit but the nose gear would still support the plane. These new pins break and the gear collapses resulting in torn off gear doors and scrapes on the nose. The problem is that even with a perfect landing, the nose gear can't flex back like the trailing link mains do. As the nose has to push through the grass, this applies a force that pushes the gear back. These pins would be okay for paved runways but not for grass unless the are annealed to soften them. I am going to change the nose gear to a trailing link type.

The part works perfectly for what I needed, which was a direct replacement for the pin on the L-39 front landing gear.
