I have been flying for 3 years, and have over a dozen planes (C-130, Corsair, Mosquito, P-47, B-17, F-16, F-22, F-15, F-18, A-10, etc.). So I am an intermediate/experienced pilot. I purchased three F-35 v.II (a PNP version and 2 ARF versions for back-up). I love this plane. Beautiful craftsmanship and flies like a charm (when working). After flying and gently landing the PNP version, on the 5th time as the jet was taking off The president of the club and another officer heard a pop and the plane dropped on the bushes. All the damaged was all in front as it landed nose-first. Upon examining the plane, we saw prop dislodged and damaged the fuselage. I sent pictures of the underbody showing zero scratch or dent, retracts in perfect condition, but the prop dislodged seen in the vent. MotionRC agreed to give me a credit for a new fuselage ($65.00), even if it was new! They wanted me to use the same engine and I said absolutely not. So I had to use a spare 70mm inrunner EDF. So I assembled a new ARF and TWICE the elevator servos gave up. I flew 4 take-offs and landing then the plane would wiggle one in a while. The plane flipped and landed in the bushes with minor damage. When checking the control surfaces, the right elevator was not responding consistently, sometimes slowly, and sometimes it was stuck. This is a new ARF! I was not going to call them for a $5 replacement. So I replace it. After three additional flights, again the plane would wiggle! Upon landing it successfully I saw the left elevator also had the same problem (stuck, not moving,), etc. Again the president of the club and another officer saw the elevator was not working.I still love the plane, and will still fly it. I wanted to bring attention to this issue to MotionRC (please check production) and new buyers (check servos) and if plane wiggles, without much input or the pilot flying straight, land it and check/replace the servos.

I am surprised Motion RC describes this as almost an EDF trainer- it is not! This F-35 has one of the highest wing loadings (area as well as cubic wing loading) of any of the Freewing jets. If you don't keep the speed up, it will tip stall very quickly. It is also in need of flaps, but doesn't have them. Once you get used to it it's not bad, but even the best jet fliers at our field found it tricky.

Outstanding scale, outstanding speed and power, super quick to build and get flight ready. Price is right. I own 5 of them.

The pros are easy to assemble, great flying, easy to repair. The first flight was a since. I used my own power plant using a FMS 70 mm 6 S fan 12 blade. Very fast and very responsive. The roll rate was like a delta airplane in the the spin was a millisecond with no hesitation. I first did not use the the gyro and towards the end of the flight I turned on the gyro, but it really did not need any assistance. Flew pretty much straight and narrow. Most may want to turn down the throws on the ailerons. Response was super quick, so just be aware. The Cons: The flying stab has an issue. When installing you do not want to overnight the two screws on each side. However, I noticed that when the screws seemed to bottom out the elevators did not set and could be moved with hand movement. This actually caused one of my friends to crash on second flight. Make sure you go beyond the bottoming out of the screw and twist until it is tight, otherwise you may have an issue. The second issue was the main landing gear pin is very brittle and on the second flight the pin sheared off on take off. I was able to save the plane on landing by doing a belly landing, (a few scrapes). I would recommend that you order a few extra pins or just make them out of music wire, which is a better material than that given on the original kit. This seems to be happening more ofter on the kits that previously, must be saving a penny on production. For the price this is a very good deal on a jet of this type. I also added navigation lights using the GP 3W leds. They are twice as bright as any others I have found on the internet. MRC does sell them. The only issue is the size of the heat sink on the back with such a small wing thickness, does take a little patience to fit them into this wing, but you will be very satisfied with the end product.Sincerely,Mako Smith

This is an excellent piece of art Jet. The details is spot on. Flying behavior is great, reduce to 50% your aileron specially when taking off to avoid getting little wobbly. Fast plane and behaves well.

I also have the PNP, but I wanted one to play with. I installed my own power system and it’s now a Jet Plus. Other than the power system differences, it handles the same, but much faster. If you don’t have one, GET ONE OR TWO (like I did) and have some FUN! You will not be disappointed, PERIOD!

Maidened today on a bright day with intermittent high cloud .Flight was uneventful except the model disappeared a few times .... (it is really hard to see). I do not recommend maidening it on a cloudy day. I am going to paint the nose , vertical stabs and the wing tips dayglo orange, that helped a lot with my Venom.
