Maidened this bird for a fellow club member and I was very impressed at the details and the more robust landing gear. In my opinion this plane is a far better deal than the E-Flight 80mm version. The replacement parts are much less expensive, and she flys much better. High alpha landings are nice and create butter landings!

I finished assembling my new plane yesterday, the 6S version. When I connected my 6S battery, only one beeps sounded. With a fully charged battery, there were one beeps at all. Come on, guys, we pay a lot of money for these planes. Can't they ensure that the products they send are in perfekt condition? I have now ordered the new Freewing Blue 120Amp myself.

This plane was probably my 12th or 13th RC aircraft purchase from Motion. I've had a few issues previously, but always with good after-sale support. I usually convert these EDF's to turbine, so I meant to purchase the ARF+ version. Somehow, I accidentally ordered the PnP. I didn't mind, because I figured I'd get used to the airplane's performance with the EDF (since it was already in there) and convert it later. Right after I finished the very easy assembly, I tried to program the ESC with my new radio, but that's when the drama began. After getting all the right beeps and indications that the defaults were correct and no brake, etc., I tried to power up and see that the throttle end-points were nominal. At about half-throttle, I heard popping sounds, smelled burnt plastic and saw a lot of smoke shooting out of the ESC. I immediately unplugged the battery and saw the aft end of the plane still smoking. After the smoke cleared, I pulled the fan and ESC out for inspection. The motor and ESC both smelled of burnt electronics, and with a sigh, I set it aside to go work on something else. When I filled out the online forms, I expected a prompt reply with instructions on how to get my propulsion system replaced. When I didn't get more than an auto-confirmation of my submission, I reached out to MRC. I was pretty disappointed to learn that they only intended to replace the ESC, because 'the motor was "probably" fine' in their opinion. When I reminded them that the two were factory hard-wired, it didn't seem to matter. I ended up having to PROVE that I didn't plug two different batteries in at once (a Rx pack AND the 6S pack... AND send them photo evidence of discoloration on the windings of the motor). Even then, it wasn't certain I'd get replacement parts. Finally, I was notified that the ESC and motor would be replaced. I guess it wasn't terribly unreasonable that I had to jump through a few hoops, but I did tell them that it seemed reasonable for me to assume that the motor was compromised, too, and not want to fly it around waiting to find out!I do RC for a living, and I know enough about these combos to know that when the ESC cooks off, it's likely that the issue migrates to the electronic components hard-wired to them. I shouldn't have had to fight for a replacement motor. Only after I took video and pics of the motor discoloration did I notice the signs of rubbing on the inside of the fan shroud. Maybe the imbalanced rotor rubbing on the shroud was part of the problem? Who knows, but I don't have the energy to try and duke it out for a new fan. I'd rather just buy a new fan unit and sell the whole thing as NIB.Tim did his best, and was pleasant to deal with, but MRC should have done better with their replacement policy and replaced the entire propulsion unit out of caution and good measure in my opinion.

Honestly it's a great planes. I do like the heaviness as it adds realism and an extra level of excitement. With extra weight you are flying the plane more and I love it. I think it's a great platform to train for something bigger. But on it's own right, it's a great looking Jet, the lights are awesome and lastly when you want more performance you can upgrade the motor to 8s. Definitely keeping it in the permanent bench.

I like the model. It looks great but eventhough it's kinda heavy it flys ok, probably not as fast as stated in some places. However, not if but when you need to purchase parts, they probably won't be available. I've been waiting for the nose strut for several weeks and still nothing and they dont seem to have any answers.
