“The Dora is amazing! Hand launches beautifully and floats right in for a landing. I’m using the Admiral RX600SP 6-Channel Receiver with Stability Plus Gyro along with an Admiral 4S 2200 battery. Great combo! Lots of power and a blast to fly. Once CG and Expo were established the Dora flew exceptionally smooth and scale like. Wow!”

“I’m a warbirder, and the FW-190D-9 is one of my favorite warbirds. I have wanted 1.5m, or larger, Dora for a long time, but when Motion announced this 850mm belly-lander Dora, I immediately preordered. Assembly was easy. There’s plenty of space in the battery bay for a 2200 mah battery, but I’ve only flown it on 4S-1550mah batteries so far (about 10 flights), and it’s a real zipper on this battery. It hand-launches easily at about 1/2 throttle (probably needs 3/4 - full throttle on 3S). My only complaint is that even with the Aileron and throttle throws mechanically set for minimum throw (outside holes on both control horn and servo arm), I had to run the rates down to 50% for kind-of scale handling and 75% for sport-plane performance. I did install a stabilized DSMX RX, but have the gains set very low. On most days, it wouldn’t need any stabilization at all. Even though I enjoy flying warbirds as scale as possible, I really enjoy running this little FW wide open and cranking hard through turns and rolling it like a drill bit. As a plane that can easily be fit around other planes for transportation to the field, it is ideal. It’s great fun and other fliers enjoy watching it zip around, too. It also flies nice and slow. On the maiden flight, after getting her trimmed, I had to work really hard to make stall. She just didn’t want to stop flying. When she did finally stall, the nose just mushed over predictably. Now, she will definitely snap (accelerated stall) out of a tight, high-speed half loop, as will any warbird, but once you establish when she’ll snap, she will still power through nice, high-speed loops, Immelmanns, Split-Ss, and such. I highly recommend this plane for fun flying, although not for beginner pilots. The pilot needs to be very comfortable handing quick, sporty planes.”

“The manual calls for a 1000 mAh to a 1600mAh battery (3s or 4s) but Im using a 3s 2200mAh. No problem once CG is established. When I set it up the motor brake was activated so I had to go back and reset the ESC, no problem due to the video Motion R.C. did on setting up the ESC on F.L.'s 850mm P-51. I really like this bird, it's has good power on the 3s, I can only imagine how it would run on a 4s battery. It's super easy to assemble. I didnt even have to adjust the trim on the factory set ailerons, only the elevators. It is a nice flyer and perfect for people like me that dont have access to a nice smooth runway and depend on hand launching and belly landings. I hope FlightLine keeps this line going.”

“The build is straight forward, I used a Admiral receiver with the built in gyro. Did the Madian flight today, this is an awesome airplane. I was a little concerned about not having a rudder, but I really didn’t miss it. Even doing large loops it tracked straight all the way through. The recommended balance point seems to be very good, I did turn down the aileron throws after the first flight . I may buy another one to keep for a spare or repaint into a JV 44 scheme.”

“It actually looks like a Dora, not some park flyer where people come up and ask "what is that". It went together easy, factory paint looks great. One thing I don't like is it looks like you can only use their prop, no master airscrew for you..I accented the air intake with a piece from an old plastic model, a panzer tank no less. The spiral was easy enough to paint just had to maneuver around the screw holes. There is no instrument panel decal or pilot though I'm sure that can be easily remedied. Overall I'm glad I bought it and look forward to the next in the series”
