Always a pleasure to do business with Motion RC!This spitfire is amazing. I had just put together the week before a model supplied by a competitor, and the obvious quality of this kit is undeniable. Went together so easily and the quality of parts, paint, and details was 110%.Maiden was like a dream, suggested battery all the way forward and it took off like on autopilot. Wish all planes were of the same quality.

This is the best airplane in my fleet, and iv'e had it about a two months. It has AMAZING detail, fly's like a dream!!! and has good power for the stock setup. There are only two issues iv'e found with this model, one, when I pull up while simaltainiously diving steeply it pulls out of the dive, to the right; Im not sure what the issue is but it's not that big a deal. The second thing is, there should be a plastic scid plate on the wing tips because they're going to get scraped up over time. These are some minor issues that really aren't that big a deal, but they're there.it will still get full stars because the issues are minor and it fly's and looks sooooo good.

This has to be the best plane I have in my hanger. I have had quite a few warbirds, and this is the nicest and most scale one I have owned. Easy to build, and great scale details. This plane flies like it is on rails, and looks like the real thing in the air. I did find that the CoG at 73mm makes the plane nose heavy, which will make it more stable in wind, but will cause it to use up a lot of runway when landing. My first flight I was using a 4000 mah 4s, which makes the wing loading too high. The next time I fly it I will be using a 2800 mah 4s and the CoG will be back to 78 to 80mm. If you are purchasing a battery for this plane make sure it has a XT60 connector and not the T connector as shown in Spare Parts. Motion needs to correct this.

Brilliant aircraft! This is my second 1,2m wingspan spitfire from MotionRC. The first one flew just 3-4 minutes before it fell down from about 10m to deadly stall. I completely destroyed the plane but I cannot blame motion RC. It was a pilot error. Well, I decided to order one more, although it's not easy to get them to Europe. The price is almost doubled thanks to shipping costs, duty, and VAT. You can imagine how nervous I was before my first flight. It's not for beginners! Definitely not. And I am RC beginner more or less.Building this beauty is easy, although manual could be a bit better. CG described in the manual says 73mm but on motion RC website they say 80mm from the wing root. You might think it's not such a big difference, but it is! So be careful about it. Also, you can download manual in pdf here, if motion RC believes CG should be 80mm, they could easily update the pdf. But they did not. Stickers are awesome, they give your plane fantastic look. But you don't get invasion strip stickers for wings. They are on the plane which is pictured in manual, but not in the box. I recommend painting them if you can. Not because of just astonishing look, but because of difficulty to see the plane in the air. One more thing which surprised me is recommended flap/elevator mix. Most planes tend to pitch up with flap extension as a first reaction. That's why we mix the elevator down usually. Same recommendation is described in manual. But Spitfire has split flaps. While putting flaps down, the nose is pitching down too. If you set elevator mix down as well, like I did, you might end up in troubles with very limited time to solve it. For the first flight, don't start with flap/elevator mix right away. Deploy flaps in horizontal flight, trim the plane and for next the next flight you can prepare the mix. You will already have a feeling how much and which direction. And one more thing recommended dual rate and expo did not work for me very well. 65 percent dual rate, 35 percent expo was not enough. The plane was still way too sensitive, hence difficult to fly. I ended up with 50/50 for aileron and elevator. So overall the only things I can complain about is basically the documentation and CG, rates, and flaps/elevator mix recommendation. How it actually flies?I am not a pro, so far I did not manage to make a nice takeoff and I did not manage to land her nicely too. As I said, its not for beginners. The Spitfire has 65mm wheels, if you are using grass strip like me, be very careful. It's easy to flip it over during takeoff. Be careful with rudder, left turning tendency during takeoff roll is really strong. Once you get it airborne it's awesome. The look, the speed, the sound, nice whistling engine. Maneuverability is excellent, easy to make nice rolls, loopings, very stable in level flight and excellent looking low passes. It's a pure joy. If you like warbirds, if you like WW2, you will love this plane like me. And then comes the landing. Extend flaps and gear, but its still not slow enough. Landing is not easy. I am still fighting with landings. If you are like me, I recommend you to buy a spare propeller and spinner right away with spitfire. Can save your day. I am flying with 4S, 3300mAh battery, weight 340g. I have 4S, 5000mAh battery too but it is 100g heavier and I am a bit afraid of increased speed for landing. There is no similar Spitfire on the market to this one. Nobody is even close with regard to look and build quality. The only possible competitor is the same Flightline Spitfire with 1,6m wingspan. But then you might have a problem with transportation. If not go for the bigger version, it will be easier to land and easier to see in the air.
